MISSION AMBASSADORS: THE WHEELERS AND MARCH OF DIMES NICU FAMILY SUPPORT

Chelsea and Bray Wheeler are parents to Aayla, who was delivered at 25 weeks at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Aayla was in the NICU for over 200 days.

Chelsea Wheeler had what was a seemingly normal pregnancy up until 23 weeks, when it was noted that there was low fluid in the amniotic sac. From there she had regular hospital visits and developed preeclampsia. At 25 weeks it was determined that she needed an emergency C-section to deliver Aayla. Chelsea and Bray both describe the NICU as a rollercoaster. Chelsea and Bray’s mantra became, “How do we best advocate for Aayla?”. Chelsea described that the most difficult part of the NICU is trying to find your voice.

That’s where Bridget comes in. Bridget is the March of Dimes NICU Family Support Coordinator at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. She works with families to support the families while the medical professionals focus on the care of the babies. Chelsea and Bray described Bridget as instrumental in guiding them to be brave advocates for Aayla.

The Wheeler family and Bridget will be at teh event, please feel free to chat with them about their journey and learn more about the March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program.

SUPPORT THE MISSION

Every year, 15 million babies are born prematurely worldwide, and 1 million will die before their first birthday. Your gift helps the March of Dimes fund research, education, advocacy and programs that help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.

This year you will find our Fund the Mission Fundraising board on display with numbers 1-100. Pick your favorite number(s) and that is your donation! Together we can fill up the board! When you support March of Dimes you help us provide programs and resources for moms and babies in communities like yours across the country. Help support programs like Supportive Pregnancy Care and NICU Family Support across the United States.

For every donation, write a note to accompany a baby hat or blanket that will be donated to a local NICU here in Minnesota.

Your gift is 100 percent tax-deductible.
